In 2014, HERO presented its first fundraising gala, “Broadway and Ballet,” honoring individuals and organizations who have been Heroes in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
We honored two-time Tony Award winner choreographer of “Kinky Boots” and founder of “Broadway Bares,” Jerry Mitchell with “The Broadway HERO - Award. “
“The Ballet HERO Award” was presented to Ballet star, Stephen Hanna. Stephen was a principal dancer at the New York City Ballet and played the adult Billy in “Billy Elliot” on Broadway. Stephen is in “On The Town”
and plans to present the “Ballet HERO Award” and perform again this year.
"The Partnership HERO Award” was given to The Actors Fund HIV/AIDS INITIATIVE.
The Actors Fund is a nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment. The Fund is a safety net, providing programs and services for those who are in need, crisis or transition.
